Bourbon Shrimp with Cheesy Grits
The bourbon-infused shrimp in this recipe go well with the creamy, cheesy grits to make a tasty Southern-style dish.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup grits
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Green onions, chopped for garnish
Instructions:
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat
Add minced garlic and saut until fragrant
Add shrimp to the skillet and cook until they start to turn pink
Pour in bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and red pepper flakes
Stir to combine and simmer until the sauce thickens slightly and shrimp are fully cooked
Season with salt and pepper to taste
In a separate pot, bring chicken broth to a boil
Slowly whisk in grits and reduce heat to low
Cook grits according to package instructions, stirring occasionally
Once grits are cooked, stir in shredded cheddar cheese and butter until melted and creamy
Serve bourbon shrimp over cheesy grits, garnished with chopped green onions
